English lavender, also known as Lavandula angustifolia, is a flowering, perennial herb that is native to the Mediterranean region. It is a dwarf shrub that can grow up to 2 feet tall and 3 feet wide, with gray foliage and purple flowers. However, there are also cultivars with pink, blue, lavender, or white flowers, and some plants are shorter and more compact. English lavender blooms from late spring through summer, and has aromatic leaves, flowers, and dry seed heads.
